Chicago Bank Blows MillionS on Party after $1.6 Billion Bailout!

February 25th, 2009

The following is a story by TMZ (minus the pictures).

If the Republicans were in power, the Democrats would be screaming bloody murder about this wasteful spending with no oversight whatsoever (deja vu: their opinion of Katrina)!

Now that the Dems are in full power, I imagine they’ll just ignore it in hopes it will go away. Trust me, I’ll be saving this as a reminder come next year’s election. ;)

Bailout Bank Blows Millions Partying in L.A.
Posted Feb 24th 2009 1:30PM by TMZ Staff

A bank that received $1.6 billion in bailout money just spent a fortune last week in L.A. hosting a series of lavish parties and concerts with famous singers … and TMZ cameras caught it all.

Northern Trust, a Chicago-based bank, sponsored the Northern Trust Open at the Riviera Country Club in L.A. We’re told Northern Trust paid millions to sponsor the PGA event which ended Sunday, but what happened off the golf course is even more shocking.

Northern Trust flew hundreds of clients and employees to L.A. and put many of them up at some of the fanciest and priciest hotels in the city. We’re told more than a hundred people were put up at the Beverly Wilshire in Bev Hills, and another hundred stayed at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel. Still more stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Marina Del Rey and others at Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica.

Here are the highlights:

- Wednesday, Northern Trust hosted a fancy dinner at the Ritz followed by a performance by the group Chicago.

- Thursday, Northern Trust rented a private hangar at the Santa Monica Airport for dinner, followed by a performance by Earth, Wind & Fire.

- Saturday, Northern Trust had the entire House of Blues in West Hollywood shut down for its private party. We got the menu — guests dined on seared salmon and petite Angus filet. Dinner was followed by a performance by none other than Sheryl Crow.

There was also a fabulous cocktail party at the Loews. And how’s this for a nice touch: Female guests at the Chicago concert all got trinkets from … TIFFANY AND CO.

As for what all that costs: Well, the company isn’t talking. We spoke with a rep from the band Chicago who said Northern Trust paid them around $100,000. A House of Blues source told us it cost more than $50,000 to close the joint down last Saturday night. As for Sheryl Crow’s fee, her rep didn’t get back to us. Earth, Wind & Fire acknowledges payment but won’t say how much.

As for the golf tournament, a rep from the PGA told us Northern Trust wrote one big fat check in order to sponsor the event. That check covers part of the $6.3 million purse, the advertising costs for the spots on CBS (which broadcast the final two rounds of the tournament) and operating costs. The rep says the fee was negotiated and is confidential.

Lots of people from Northern Trust went to the golf tourney … in special Mercedes that shuttled them to and from the hotels. But for those who weren’t into golfing, they could spend a few hours at the Northern Trust seminar on the credit crunch.

Now how’s this for outrage? Northern Trust laid off 450 workers in December, 4% of its workforce.

And here’s what’s absolutely amazing: The United States Government flat out gave Northern Trust the $1.6 billion in bailout money, and the bank didn’t even request it!

Northern Trust gave us a statement yesterday before going total radio silence. A rep for the bank acknowledges they paid for the events, but that the bailout money did not pay for the events. He claims it was paid out of the bank’s operating expenses. Here’s Northern Trust’s full statement to us.

Perhaps we’re missing something, but money is money. How can they spend like this when they’re using taxpayer’s money, whether they asked for it or not? And where the hell is Congress in all of this? Is there any oversight or accountability?

Your tax dollars, hard at work. Thomas Jefferson was right — “A little rebellion, now and then, is a good thing.”

George Soros’ Fingerprints

February 16th, 2009

Call me crazy, but I think George Soros’ fingerprints are ALL OVER the current “economic crises.”  First he breaks the Bank of England in 1992, then five years later it was Thailand. I know this is long, but please please read it, IT’S IMPORTANT for people to toot the horn on this one.

According to “Soros’ investment philosophy” (below) it kinda sounds to me like:

1) He figures out what he wants to do, then

2) He invests in stocks and individuals (politicians and/or media in this case) that will ultimately help him reach his goal, then

3) He sits back and watches the show

4) His #3 below sounds to me like he “helps the scenario” via connections (Democrats and media that have been bought and paid for) who edge the market to do what he wants.

So what is he up to?   In 1992 he broke the Bank of England (wikipedia).    Then 5 years later did the same thing in Thailand.  And now 12 years later, the climate in the U.S.

Hmmm, what are the Democrats after?  Banks in the U.S.  I think he’s getting the Democrats (who I think are greedy and corrupt) to do his “participating” (#3 philosophy) for him.

Worst of all, the PRESIDENT is doing his bidding by whipping the public into a frenzy over “impending financial disaster.”  I remember back when Bush was about three weeks from his 1st inauguration and he said that the economy was weak.  Clinton’s pit bulls accused President Bush of “talking down the economy.”  Isn’t that was Hussein Obama, and his fellow Democrats,  doing?

After the U.S. banks, what will Soros do next?  The world will be his oyster.

—————————————————————————————————————

George Soros’ investment philosophy:

“Reflexivity is based in three main ideas:

(1) Reflexivity is best observed under special conditions where investor bias grows and spreads throughout the investment arena. Examples of factors that may give rise to this bias include (a) equity leveraging or (b) the trend following habits of speculators.

(2) Reflexivity appears intermittently since it is most likely to be revealed under certain conditions; i.e., the equilibrium process’s character is best considered in terms of probabilities.

(3) Investors’ observation of and participation in the capital markets may at times influence valuations AND fundamental conditions or outcomes.”

Basically, this means markets are at an equilibrium…until they aren’t. And then speculation takes over and brings things to a feverish pitch that can’t be stopped by rational theories of economics, throwing out the efficient market theory at this time. When Soros was betting on the pound’s decline he was betting that a tipping point had been reached that had made the idea of a pound’s decline irresistible to the general public, to speculators, to policy makers, etc and that nothing anybody could do could prevent it, no matter how irrational it might be. Its when he smells out this type of weakness or strength that Soros will make his biggest bets.

How he “smells out weakness” though goes one step beyond philosophy and into his own talent. As his own son, Jonathan Soros put it, “when my father’s back hurt he knew he was in a bad trade.”

————————————————————————————————————-

“…Many of the people Soros wants to influence may view him with skepticism, in part because of how he made his fortune. In 1992, his fund famously bet against the British pound and helped force the British government to devalue the currency. Five years later, he bet — correctly — that Thailand would be forced to devalue its currency, the baht. The resulting bitterness toward him among Thais was such that Soros canceled a trip to the country in 2001, fearing for his safety…”

MSM Blurs Presidential Line

September 16th, 2008

I’m confused.  Does our know-it-all MSM think that Sarah Palin is running for President against Obama?

Even tonight Bill O’Reilly questioned two reporters on their interviews with Michelle Obama and Sarah Palin.  What happened to John and Cindy McCain?

Why aren’t they comparing McCain to Obama, Cindy to Michelle, and Palin to Biden?  Because they know they’ll lose every time?

McCain’s Event Raises “American” Flags

September 6th, 2008

June 27, 2006 at 6:14pm was an important time for all of US to remember, the Democrats upheld destroying our Country’s Flag.

That was when Barack Obama and Joe Biden joined hands with the Democratic Party and voted ‘NO’ for the Senate’s Joint Resolution 12 to amend the U.S. Constitution to “prohibit the physical desecration of the flag of the United States.”

Is it any surprise that former POW, John McCain, voted ‘YES’ for the Constitutional Amendment?

Now fast-forward to today and think about what has just happened.  After the Democratic National Convention is over and clean up has ensued, a vendor comes across the Democrats’ trash.  Garbage bag after garbage bag (84 bags according to Fox News) near the garbage bin FULL of American Flags.

The vendor was soooo concerned that he turned them over to the Boy Scouts.  Let me insert here that the Boy Scouts have a special Ceremony to respectfully lay the American Flag to rest.

What were the Boy Scouts supposed to do?  Call the Democrats who put them in the trash to begin with?  No, they transported them to the Republicans for their use in Colorado Springs.

I think that’s the right thing to do, don’t you?

Well, leave it to Obama to turn it around and accuse the Republicans of “stealing” the American Flags for a political stunt.

C’mon!!!  Do the Democrats really think we, the American people, are stupid enough to believe that?

note:  You can go here and click on “Democrat” to see a list of who voted “NO” and “Republican” to see who voted “YES”.

Obama Runs for Cover

September 5th, 2008

Never in a million years would I have thought that one woman could cause a Presidential Candidate to quickly run in the other direction and hide behind some females’ skirts!

Now we get to see the “master” in action…a preview (so to speak) of what kind of leader we can expect out of Obama when faced with a “surprise”.

According to Time, “Nobody was more surprised by John McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate than the people who run Barack Obama’s campaign. ‘I can honestly say that we weren’t prepared for that,’ says David Axelrod, Obama’s top strategist. ‘I mean, her name wasn’t on anybody’s list…’

“Their shock was evident in their initial, clumsy reaction, a hard-hitting two-sentence statement from Obama spokesman Bill Burton that included this zinger: ‘Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency.’ Eighty-six minutes later, the campaign corrected course, issuing a second statement from both Obama and his running mate, Delaware Senator Joe Biden: ‘While we obviously have differences over how best to lead this country forward, Governor Palin is an admirable person and will add a compelling new voice to this campaign.’”

Time continues, and here’s the kicker,

“Later that afternoon, Obama, almost apologetically, explained the discrepancy: ‘You know campaigns start getting these hair triggers, and the statement that Joe and I put out reflects our sentiments.’ The do-si-do by the campaign reflects its initial uncertainty on how to deal with Palin…”

Well, maybe that isn’t his finest hour. Let’s see how he handles it after studying the issue.

In a New York Times‘ article, the very first sentence says this: “Senator Barack Obama will increasingly lean on prominent Democratic women to undercut Gov. Sarah Palin…”

Hmmm, so Obama’s not good with “hair triggers” and once he studies the issue he runs for cover behind females’ skirts.

I have one question, “Where will Obama hide when, heaven forbid, the nuclear option comes up?”

Note: Emphasis mine.

Obama UNMASKED: His Energy Experts

August 8th, 2008

I heard a caller on the Sean Hannity show say that Obama owes him $650.

The caller went on to explain that he has a 10-year-old truck that gets 15mpg, and he followed Obama’s advice. Instead of inflating his tires, he BOUGHT 4 new tires. Then he got a tune up.

Four tanks of gas later, he’s still getting 15 mpg.

Why do I bring this up?

Because I heard Obama defending his strategy the other day, saying that the Republicans are scoffing at his “Energy Policy,” but he’s going off the word of experts in that field. If Obama SHOULD win, and these are the types of experts he’s going to use, we’re in for a worse ride than many think!

And the Democrats Have Done/Will Do What?

April 7th, 2008

What have the Democrats accomplished over the past two years, since they’ve had control of Congress?

  1. Elected Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House (mistake number 1)
  2. Elected Harry Reid as Senate Majority Leader (mistake number 2)
  3. Complain about Republicans

Democratically-controlled Congress has a DISapproval rating of 72%.  That means that 7 out of every 10 people you pass on the sidewalk DISapprove of what the Democrats are doing!

So if the Democrats doing such a poor job of taking care of us for the past two years, then why-oh-why would we bother to re-elect them…much less elect them to the Presidential position?

Just to name a few things the Democrats HAVE promised us if they are elected:  raise our taxes, pull out of Iraq, give amnesty to illegals, and force universal health care on all of us.

The REAL Bosnia-Hillary Story

April 6th, 2008

Flipping through channels the other day, I came across Tim Russert interviewing Christopher Hutchins.  Knowing that Christopher is usually colorful, I decided to stay and find out what they were talking about.  Much to my surprise, it happened to coincide with an e-mail of an article he wrote that I received last week about his personal knowledge of the REAL STORY on the Clintons and Bosnia.

As you’ll remember, Bill Clinton’s first term in office from 1993-1997.

Allow me set the stage.  Hitchens happened to be in Sarajevo the summer of 1992 and noted that the Bosnians were “enthused by Bill Clinton’s pledge…to come to the defense of the victims of ethnic cleansing.”

1993 = Nothing done by U.S.

1994 = Nothing Done by U.S.

1995 = Nothing Done by U.S.

What had happened in the interim? In particular, what had happened to the 1992 promise, four years earlier, that genocide in Bosnia would be opposed by a Clinton administration?

According to a quote from Sally Bedell Smith’s “admirable book on the happy couple: For Love of Politics:”

“Taking the advice of Al Gore and National Security Advisor Tony Lake, Bill agreed to a proposal to bomb Serbian military positions while helping the Muslims acquire weapons to defend themselves—the fulfillment of a pledge he had made during the 1992 campaign. But instead of pushing European leaders, he directed Secretary of State Warren Christopher merely to consult with them. When they balked at the plan, Bill quickly retreated, creating a “perception of drift.” The key factor in Bill’s policy reversal was Hillary, who was said to have “deep misgivings” and viewed the situation as “a Vietnam that would compromise health-care reform.” The United States took no further action in Bosnia, and the “ethnic cleansing” by the Serbs was to continue for four more years, resulting in the deaths of more than 250,000 people.”

The following is from Christopher Hitchen’s article:

“I can personally witness to the truth of this, too. I can remember, first, one of the Clintons’ closest personal advisers—Sidney Blumenthal—referring with acid contempt to Warren Christopher as “a blend of Pontius Pilate with Ichabod Crane.” I can remember, second, a meeting with Clinton’s then-Secretary of Defense Les Aspin at the British Embassy. When I challenged him on the sellout of the Bosnians, he drew me aside and told me that he had asked the White House for permission to land his own plane at Sarajevo airport, if only as a gesture of reassurance that the United States had not forgotten its commitments. The response from the happy couple was unambiguous: He was to do no such thing, lest it distract attention from the first lady’s health care ‘initiative.’” (emphasis is mine)

So to sum it up, why did those 250,000 people die?  Because Hillary didn’t want any action(s) over there to detract from her shot at health-care reform (which failed miserably).

And now she has the audacity to LIE about her trip over there?  Having to dodge sniper fire while running from the plane to the car???  Perhaps she was THINKING that is what the people might have done had they known the REAL REASON that those 250,000 people had to die!

I can just imagine one of those 3:00am phone calls she wants to get as President.

Advisor Vincent, “Mrs. President, our worst fears after pulling all the troops out of Iraq have been realized.  Osama bin Laden has taken control of Saddam’s Baghdad Palace.”

Hillary responds, “Vincent, we can’t do anything about it right now because I have a bill pending in Congress to rename the Mid-Manhattan Library in New York The Hillbilly Library and I don’t want anything to detract from that!  We’ll work it out on Tuesday.”

Who do you want to answer the phone at 3:00am?

P.S.  If McCain is President, that phone call wouldn’t even be made as he isn’t talking about pulling out troops prematurely!

Murdoch After the New York Times?

March 27th, 2008

I just found this too funny not to do a post on.

According to businessandmedia.org,

“Howell Raines, former executive editor of The New York Times, is scared for his pension.”

“Raines wrote in the April 2008 Condé Nast Portfolio that he fears the “pirate” Rupert Murdoch will bolster the quality of The Wall Street Journal – which he recently purchased – and “will spend whatever it takes to undermine the Times’ standing as America’s leading general-interest paper.”

But what’s really behind Raines’ fear of Murdoch is a self-interest in protecting his retirement. “As a Times pensioner,” Raines wrote, “I want the paper to make money under public-spirited owners. As a reader, I believe a Murdoch takeover of our last independent national newspaper would be a disaster for the trustworthy reporting on which our civil life depends.”

IMHO, I personally take issue with the last half-sentence that losing the NYT “would be a disaster for the trustworthy reporting on which our civil life depends”!

Oh puhleez!!!  The same kind of ‘trustworthy reporting’ that jeopardizes our safety by trumpeting NSA confidential guidelines?

The same kind of ‘trustworthy reporting’ that caused you to fire several reporters only AFTER it came out that they fabricated their stories?

Oh, now I see the connection that NYT has with Hillary.  The Times & Hillary both know how to fabricate details of things that never took place!!!

The Drug-Resistant Epidemic in Washington D.C.

March 27th, 2008

The game of politics in Washington D.C. was a “gentleman’s game” until Bill & Hillary came bursting on to the scene in the ’90s.  Everyone had their own opinion, as they do today, but they were courteous to each other and in the end they did get “the People’s Work” done.

The best analogy I can think of to describe then versus now would be a Pomeranian and a Pit Bull duking it out.  And guess who the Pit Bull is?  You’re right!  The Clintons!!!

Unfortunately, the Pit Bulls have been training the other dogs in Washington and now we have an epidemic.  It seems that this epidemic is antibiotic-resistant, and the only way to get rid of it is to excise the affected parts.

How do we excise the infected areas?  Defeat the Incumbents and get newbies in there.  If the newbies get infected, then we need to get rid of them.

The American People are going to have to get serious if we want to get our government back to work on OUR problems, instead of the SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS’ problems.
